$115 per Trainee (plus $199 flat fee per class/day - no minimum class size)

Each year a significant number of workers are injured or killed from a fall on the jobsite. Regardless of one’s work frequency and duration, all workers performing duties at height need to understand the proper application and use of fall protection.

This half-day course will provide an overview of fall protection principles and the essential equipment components used in a basic personal fall restraint or arrest system.

The course includes challenge questions, workbook exercises, and other interactive instructional techniques to enhance student learning.

Course Overview:

  • Fall hazard identification

  • Fundamentals of working at height

  • Fall protection oversight

  • Basic system components

  • Pre-use inspections

  • Harness donning and inspection

Equipment: Fall protection equipment relevant to course material, supplied by Benbow Safety Training for trainee use during training.

Duration: Half-day (includes theory, written exam, & practical evaluations)

Location: Your jobsite or suitable covered/indoor space

Class Size: 1 to 20

Certification Criteria:

  • 75% on written exam

  • “Pass” on practical evaluations

Certification Length: 3 years

Available Jurisdictions (OHS Compliance):

  • British Columbia

  • Alberta

  • Canada (Federal)

Documentation:

  • Trainees will receive a Student Manual, 30-day Temporary Wallet Card & 3-year Wallet Card (if certification criteria passed).

  • Employers will receive digital record of certification.

  • Benbow Safety Training retains all original documentation including written exam.

Fees: $115 per Trainee (plus $199 flat fee per class/day - no minimum class size)

Pay one flat fee per class (no minimum class size), then just $115 per trainee. Includes built-in volume pricing where every additional certification lowers your cost per operator.

Travel Costs:

  • No travel costs for courses delivered on southern Vancouver Island (south of Nanaimo).

  • Elsewhere on the island and the rest of BC, travel costs will be added to the course fees and are calculated when you request a quote.

  • We strive to keep costs low to maximize value to our customers and are happy to work with your company’s travel & accommodation processes on request.

Need certification but don’t have an available jobsite? We’re happy to help you find a suitable indoor (or at least covered) location for training. Additional costs for site rental may be added to your quote if applicable.

Each year, numerous workers suffer the traumatic effects of a fall from height. Workers need to understand these dangers and the options available to help mitigate this hazard. The methods used to protect oneself at height can vary between situations, thus requiring comprehensive training.

In addition to the general principles of working safely at height, this one-day course also covers common fall protection systems, providing knowledge on selection, set-up, and usage. A variety of instructional techniques, including challenge questions, workbook exercises, and practical learning applications, will be used to educate course participants. The curriculum will cover proper pre-use inspection, harness donning, system selection, and system set-up.

The course is suited for those who perform work duties at height in various at-height jobsite situations and will be responsible for selecting and utilizing the appropriate system components. The course material will provide students with an engaging and enjoyable learning environment.
